Houston Baptist (12-20) will face regular-season champion South Dakota in the title game Saturday night. One year after losing to Richwood in the final, the Vikings got revenge on another Monroe team to win the second state title in school history. The Vikings (30-2) jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter and expanded the margin to 48-23 at the half thanks to an impressive 29-point second quarter. Dixon, who scored 26 points in Vidalia's semifinal win over Abbeville, also had eight rebounds and four assists.  

The Region 1-AAAAA champion Tift County boys' team went 24-5 this season under a first-year head coach, but yet had no player named to the first-team All-Region squad. The coach, Eric Holland, who guided the Devils to a regular-season runner-up and region tournament championship, doesn't even win Coach of the Year honors. What's wrong with this picture?

As the Newport News School Board considered cuts to pare $20 million from the school district budget, board Member Betty Dixon asked what the district was doing with money saved from its hiring freeze, which has kept dozens of jobs vacant that were factored into the current budget. "Is that money still in this year's budget?" she asked at the board's March 9 work session. It is, Assistant Superintendent Mary Lou Roaseau said.

Hunch , a New York City-based startup founded by Flickr co-founder Caterina Fake and SiteAdvisor founder/angel investor Chris Dixon, has raised $10 million in funding for its questions and recommendations site. Nearly a year ago, Ms. Fake revealed her new startup to the world. Her goal: to create a service that would help people make decisions via crowdsourced questions and advice from its users.
